I am Ian Smith, and I offer therapy to clients through my company, Ian Smith Counseling, in Austin, Texas. I have been in public schools for more than 12 years, helping children, teens, young adults, and families who are in need of my services. For the past 4 years I have been a student support counselor in Eanes ISD at the elementary level. Additionally, I have worked for more than 5 years in middle and high schools in Austin ISD. Throughout my journey of elementary, middle and high school levels I have acquired a unique perspective on various issues troubling todays youth.

- Thank you for visiting my site. I am originally from Houston, TX and moved to Austin to attend St. Edwards University. I began my journey working with Communities in Schools on the Travis High School campus. My wife and I welcomed our daughter into this world in 2008. We decided I would be a stay at home dad and I enjoyed doing that for four years. Once my daughter started pre-school I decided to get back into the ring. I supported Bedichek Middle and LBJ High School where I was a counselor with Communities In Schools for four years. During the summer of 2015 I was blessed with an offer to come to Eanes ISD as a Student Support Counselor at Cedar Creek and Forest Trail Elementary where I am beginning my fifth year.
- I have a depth of experience as a counselor and Eanes parent, with over 12 years in public schools and 4 years in Eanes ISD. I have a diverse range of skills with individual and group therapy (Boys and Girls Empowerment groups).
- My unique background in primary and secondary schools allows me to collaborate with families and schools on things such as 504 services, the special education process, testing, peer conflict and many other school related concerns.
- I have also conducted a wide variety of staff trainings and parent workshops on topics such as: Love and Logic in schools and homes, Social thinking, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), parenting strategies (variety of seminars) and "How to Raise an Adult" book clubs.
